Login Now Patient Access Coordinator Salary Grade:113 Location:Nashville TN FT/PT Status:Regular Full Time Days:Monday - Friday Hours:8:00am-4:30pm Responsibilities / Essential Functions: Patient Access Coordinators provide benefits coordination and financial counseling services. Coordinators are responsible for assisting patients and physicians with benefit verifications, prior authorizations, and securing financial copay assistance if necessary. Coordinators act as a liaison between clinical staff, physicians, specialty pharmacy, and patients regarding approval and financial outcomes of oral oncolytic therapies from receipt of prescription until ultimate delivery. Coordinators work with a variety of mediums to accomplish effective communication throughout process. • Obtain prior authorizations for oral oncolytic medications. Submit appeals or letter of medical necessity as required by payor. • Understanding patient's financial standing, determining a financial course of action based on the standing, and seeking financial assistance programs if necessary. • Provide financial counseling and securement for patients per policy or patient request • Explain and document benefits coverage to patients and clinical staff ensuring all necessary information including insurance verification, prior authorization, copay assistance is available to process orders • Refer any medication or illness related questions or concerns to appropriate pharmacist and/or physician • Maintains documentation in appropriate systems of calls/inquiries to and from patients, payors, and providers during prior authorization and copay assistance process • Current knowledge of trend changes for insurance formularies, prior authorization, and foundation funding. • Maintains patient confidentiality • Works to research and resolve problems in a timely manner • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems, and make decisions • Participate in Clinical Oversight Committee meetings to develop or implement Quality Improvement Plan as needed • Ability to collaborate and function as part of a team • Assists patient accounting with any patient assistance needs • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Excellent verbal presentation and communication skills • Ability to handle challenging situations in a professional manner • Excellent time management skills • Ability to multitask and be detail oriented • Ability to work efficiently without creating distraction or disruption to other staff • Ability to work well with various personalities and work as a team • Ability to work and accomplish goals independently • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Practice Management, EMR and other medical information systems Qualifications & Requirements: • High School diploma or equivalent • One year experience in directly related role • Must obtain registered pharmacy technician status upon hire Preferred Experience: • Experience performing patient drug benefit verifications and authorizations • Pharmacy technician, medical assistant, or LPN experience Physical Requirements: Physical requirements may include standing, walking,sitting, fingering or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, lifting orexerting force up to 25 pounds, reaching or stretching, crouching or stooping,speaking, hearing, and seeing(with correction).
