Login Now Pathology Clerk Salary Grade:110 Location:Franklin TN FT/PT Status:Regular Full Time Days:Monday - Friday Hours:8:30a - 5:00p Responsibilities / Essential Functions: Pathology Clerk is responsible for the collection of patient specimens for molecular testing. Follows proper guidelines for obtaining slide block samples from various institutions and hospitals, routing these samples to the appropriate institution based on physician preference and type test, and providing insurance information on patient when necessary. • Ensures all physician requests for genetic and molecular testing are routed to the correct institution. • Maintains records of all slide block samples requested and ensures results are routed to appropriate physician. • Checks reminders daily. • Interacts with medical staff and assists physicians with requests for specialty tests, including but not limited to: Path Reviews, BRAF, DRAS mutations, Foundation medicine molecular pathology, EGFR Mutation Study, ALK, HPV, Oncotype testing, NGS, Her 2 by FISH. • Faxes patient records to insurance companies and testing facilities as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of procedures and practices as it relates to slide block process. • Knowledge of insurance (J codes) for pre-certification. • Excellent customer service skills, both in person and over the telephone. • Ability to decipher complex requests for specialty testing on biopsy samples/slides and knowledge of where to send tests. • Ability to follow instruction. • Skill in written and verbal communication. • Ability to multi-task and within significant time constraints. • Ability to process information accurately, manage multiple projects simultaneously and be organized. • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and databases. Qualifications & Requirements: • Previous pathology tissue sample processing experience - preferred. • HS Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree or some college credits – preferred. • Minimum of 2 years hospital or clinic experience - preferred • Previous experience with laboratory or hospital computer systems preferred. • EMR and G4 experience, preferred Physical Requirements: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Fingering or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, lifting or exerting force up to 25lbs, reaching or stretching, crouching or stooping, speaking, hearing, seeing. May travel to various clinics.
